The pill changes the attraction of women to men

The contraceptive pill has many unpleasant side effects, that is already known. But the fact that it can also change a woman’s attraction to a man has not been discussed much so far.

Using synthetic hormones, the pill stops a woman’s cycle, preventing monthly ovulation, which is part of reproduction. The pill thus fools the female body into thinking that there is a kind of permanent pregnancy. The contraceptive thus intervenes in many biochemical processes. Research results have shown that the daily intake of hormones affects, among other things, the woman’s sense of smell, which can change her choice of partner. In addition, even the woman’s own body odor is manipulated.

Body odor and the sense of smell are one of the most important points when choosing a partner. Normally, like animals, we humans are created to find the most attractive partner by smell, which is genetically most different from us. This is important during reproduction in order to be able to give our offspring the most diverse portfolio of DNA and thus greater protection against diseases. The pill, however, falsifies this picture.

Women can become less attractive to men when they take the pill

The HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) molecules found in our skin cells are responsible for the immune system and the development of body odour. However, when taking the pill, the woman’s sense of smell changes in such a way that she suddenly no longer selects the man who has the most genetic differences, but the one who is closest to her profile. Since her own body odor also changes with the constant intake of hormones, the woman also automatically attracts a different type of man than without the pill.

To make matters worse, women normally exude certain fragrances during the fertile phase of their cycle. These are also largely suppressed by the pill, which reduces the attraction of women to men. There have also been experiments in recent years in which women stopped taking the pill and suddenly fell in love with a different type of man or even couldn’t smell their own partner, all controlled by the HLA molecule.
