Williams and Mutter, in an admirable duo

At 90 years old, John Williams is more creative and prolific than ever. The composer of the soundtracks of “Star Wars”, “Indiana Jones”, “Tiburon”, “E:T”, “Superman” and many other famous films, winner of 5 Oscars and early author of wonderful themes for television series TV such as “Lost in Space” and “The Time Tunnel”, signed as Johnny Williams, has a great time: while he finishes writing the score for “Indiana Jones 5”, he composed a formidable concert for the violin star Anne-Sophie Mutter. The virtuous ex-wife of Andre Previn, a brilliant interpreter of Krzysztof Penderecki, makes the most of the possibilities that Williams gives her, able to go from a cosmic prologue -in the style of “Close Encounters”- to jazzy climaxes, even leaving room for the violin to look improvising at will. In addition, Williams is the conductor of the orchestra. As a bonus, the performance culminates with three especially sentimental tracks, the theme of “The Long Goodbye” (that formidable version of Chandler by Robert Altman) and the two most romantic passages of “The Contractaca Empire” and “The Hunters of the Lost Ark” .
