Britney Spears’ father Jamie to testify under oath in court

For years he was her guardian. Meanwhile, Britney Spears raises serious allegations against her father Jamie. Now she has managed a small victory.

The legal dispute between US singer Britney Spears, 40, and her father Jamie Spears, 70, is entering a new round. US Judge Brenda Penny ruled on Wednesday that Jamie Spears must testify under oath in court, TMZ.com reported. The singer’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, said it was a “great day” for Britney, according to TMZ.com. The pop star’s father has a month to testify and release documents in Los Angeles court, Variety magazine reports.

Rosengart had already made allegations last year that the singer had been closely monitored under her father’s long guardianship. The lawyer also wants to investigate allegations that the father should have enriched himself with his daughter’s millions of dollars.

Full control over Britney Spears’ life

The singer has been under guardianship since 2008 after she had a mental breakdown due to personal and professional problems. For years, her father and other agents were responsible for the musician’s financial and personal affairs. In September last year, Judge Penny finally relieved the father of his guardianship. In November, the singer regained full control of her life.

According to a documentary by the “New York Times”, Spears is said to have been monitored for years during his guardianship. A listening device was installed in her bedroom and data was copied from her cell phone, the documentary “Controlling Britney Spears” said, citing material provided by a former employee of a security company. Father Spears defended himself in court that he had always acted in his daughter’s best interests.

In June, Spears married longtime boyfriend, model and fitness trainer Sam Asghari, 28, in California. It was Spears’ third wedding. She has two teenage sons with dancer Kevin Federline.
