Cathy Hummels reveals how she fought for her marriage

Much has been written about the marriage of Cathy Hummels and Mats Hummels in recent months. There was talk of divorce. Now Cathy Hummels has spoken out for herself.

It’s the Hummels mantra: we stick together, we’re a team, and the most important member is his son Ludwig. Cathy Hummels always emphasized this when her marriage to footballer Mats Hummels was in the headlines.

There was even talk of divorce recently. Neither she nor he commented. In an interview with the magazine “Bunte”, the influencer revealed how her depression significantly changed her everyday life – and marriage – a few years ago. And what makes you different today.

Cathy Hummels: “I loved my husband very much”

“I’ve learned to put my needs first – after my son,” she told the magazine, adding that she couldn’t do it before. The reason was her severe depression, which not only affected her well-being, but also her marriage.

“I wanted to do everything to have a happy marriage, organized everyday family life, the holidays, just everything. And then at the age of 24 I had the worst depression of my life, with panic attacks. I loved my husband very much and wanted to move around always take care of everything perfectly, but it didn’t go on like this,” she said.

The interview with “Bunte” was not about separation or even divorce, and yet the past tense in which Cathy Hummels spoke is meaningful.

Wedding day post

Most recently, the influencer posted a picture with soccer star Mats Hummels in mid-June. On the couple’s wedding day, she wrote about a three-way selfie with son Ludwig: “The darn 7th year … in loving memory of 15.6.15. In this picture you can see my greatest love L.”

And when numerous media reported about the divorce, she followed up with a similar post: “When one door closes, a new one opens. I don’t like change that much. But accepting it helps you, even if it hurts. I accept it and as always, I am as positive as possible. For Ludwig. For me. For our lives, “wrote Hummels. Lines that sound like farewell. From marriage, but not from family.
