Jürgen Drews ends his long career. Joelina, his daughter, “has to get used to it first”, but allows him this step.
One performance after the other, that’s how his fans know Jürgen Drews (77). But that will soon be over. The “King of Mallorca” surprisingly recently announced that he is retiring. His daughter Joelina (26) only found out about it shortly beforehand.
Last Saturday, Drews had the show “The Big Schlager Beach Party 2022 – Here we go again!” announced the end of his career alongside his wife Ramona (48) and Florian Silbereisen (40). He explained: “Since I’m at an age when others have long since retired, I also said to myself: ‘At some point it’ll be good’.”
Only a day earlier, Joelina had learned from her mother that he would announce the end of his career on the show. “I couldn’t believe it at first and I still have to get used to this thought,” says the 26-year-old now. On the one hand she is “sad”, on the other hand she can understand her father’s decision. Drews “really deserved this step after such a long career”.
Jürgen Drews has “slowed down”
Last year, Drews revealed that he suffers from polyneuropathy, a neurological disorder that limits his ability to move. Joelina also noticed “that my dad has slowed down, which is due to his age and his illness”. The singer should “now just think about himself and his health”.
At least TV appearances are currently planned before Drews wants to say goodbye to the stage completely. His last show, “at Florian’s,” should then be seen in the fall.
A successor for the “King of Mallorca” seems to have been found. talked about the fact that he could imagine Mickie Krause (52) in this role.
