Olympic champion Fabian Hambüchen (34) and Viktoria Hambüchen-Diesterbeck (31) tied the knot last weekend in Wetzlar, Hesse. the former gymnast spoke about his experiences after the wedding. “Such a wedding does something with the relationship again,” reports Hambüchen.
He and his current wife were “happy from the start”, but with the ceremony they consciously “decided for each other” again. “The yes made our love even stronger,” continued Hambüchen. After the registry office, a church wedding is to follow next year: “We would like a solemn, cordial ceremony.” The two do not yet know where and when: “We are currently looking for a location that suits us.”
Engagement took place in January 2022
The engagement was made public in January 2022. Hambüchen had asked for his wife’s hand in the Maldives. The athlete published two photos on Instagram showing the two on the beach. In one of the recordings, he kneels in front of his partner. “Thank you for being the person I want to spend the rest of my life with,” he wrote. “You make me a better person and all I need is you.” He loves her so much that he cannot describe it in words.
