Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s family hamster has disappeared. The 35-year-old suspects him behind a wall in her house – and starts an unusual rescue operation.
The average golden hamster is around six inches tall. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s villa, on the other hand, has a living space of around 900 square meters. So where do you start looking when the tiny animal is gone? This is exactly the question the 35-year-old asked herself, because the family hamster Peanut Butter was no longer to be found. Together with a friend and her mother, Teigen went in search of the four-legged friend and published a video of the action on Instagram. “Peanut Butter, the hamster, has been missing for three days. Is it in the wall? Let’s find out,” commented the model on the clip.

The recording begins with Teigen and a friend listening behind the curtains on the wall. You heard soft scratching noises there, explains the American. Later, Teigen and her helpers discover a hole in the wall where cables have been laid. In the meantime, Teigen’s five-year-old daughter Luna has also joined the group. “He uses the cables like a rope for climbing,” explains Teigen’s friend to the girl.
Those involved in the rescue operation are certain: the hamster is trapped behind the wall. But how do you get it out of there? Teigen tries to drill a hole in the wall with a screwdriver, then even reaches for a hammer – all to no avail.
Eventually, she destroys the wood paneling between the window and the wall, and the hamster’s nose actually appears there. Dough tries to lure the animal out with cereal grains, but it keeps pulling back. Only when she holds a kind of round cage in front of the hole does Peanut Butter climb into it. The animal is saved and the 35-year-old is very happy about the successful event.
The fact that there is now a hole in the wall in the 17.5 million dollar villa that she and Legend recently moved into is almost a minor matter.
