Presenter Kim Fisher starts again as a singer. In the interview she talks about self-love and the ups and downs in life.
The music has accompanied “Riverboat” presenter Kim Fisher (53) her whole life. Around 20 years after her last album, she is now releasing a long player again: “Was fürs Leben” will be released on July 22nd. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, Fisher talks about her impatience, which she finds “particularly exhausting” and why she is “the best lightning rod” for herself.
Her new album is about the ups and downs of life. Which ones do you remember?
Kim Fisher: Ups and downs – if it weren’t for one, there wouldn’t be any of the others either. And it looks as if this law of life will remain. Just when I saw the cover of “Was fürs Leben” for the first time, when everything started rolling, I thought seriously: Now you’re really happy, please don’t let anything happen that turns the feeling into the opposite.
On the way to growing up there are always sections or situations that don’t work. that you imagined differently. job, love, health. But I am convinced that the depth of the depths is actually determined by us. I’m definitely aiming for the highs. And I have to say it works pretty well too. Because I can now also rely on the fact that I know how to take the so-called lows well.
The song “Alle Fehler” is about mistakes and low points in life from which one has learned. Is there a mistake that has particularly shaped you and for which you are grateful today?
Fisher: Accepting your own mistakes is quite challenging. And I have to laugh at myself right now. I always tell everyone that certain qualities or sensitivities have bitten into my DNA, simply belong to me, that it’s all just me.
But with some topics and corresponding errors, I also ask myself why I do the same shit over and over again. I find my impatience particularly tiring. I know that it will never go faster if I breathe loudly, roll my eyes, demonstratively succeed, set down bags or suitcases loudly or start asking: “Excuse me, it can’t be faster, right?”, no matter in which line .
The album was created at the dining table in your old apartment. You cooked for your songwriting partners and producers. Are you a passionate cook? What’s your specialty?
Fisher: Considering I had to be in my 40s/50s to cook regularly, it works surprisingly well. Definitely according to the recipe – I suspect, without I’m only on it from 60 – and gladly for many.
In the song “I’m here” it says: “Because I’m in love with myself”. How important is self-love to you?
Fisher: I always noticed the keyword self-love in magazines, journals, book titles. But if I pause for a moment and don’t answer right away, I can feel them. I haven’t really thought about how age changes you, whether you become more relaxed or more knowledgeable and correspondingly more optimized. But I do feel like I’m starting to understand that I’m my own best lightning rod. If I don’t want you to annoy me, no matter how hard you try, I won’t notice. Well, it doesn’t always work. But pretty good now.
To sing a sentence like “I’m in love with myself” out loud, I needed a little extra round of pushing from the outside. Peter Plate and Ulf Leo Sommer wrote the number “I’m here” and this sentence as well. Honestly? Simply speaking this sentence out loud to yourself puts you in a good mood. Do it…
You’re going on tour with your album in September. Are you already excited to be on stage?
Fisher: I can hardly believe that I’m going on tour. But only because I think it’s great! That feels like being in love. The anticipation, the knowledge that it will be good, really good! I’ve actually been seeing what that will look like for years. We’re going to celebrate together, sing, dance (well, there’s seating, it doesn’t matter), just have a really good time together. That’s why I can hardly stand it now until people can finally hear all this. So they know: “Yeah, I have to go there! And I’ll buy some tickets for friends right away – we want to celebrate with Mrs. Fisher!”
