The victim, whose family has not been named, was reportedly sitting in a vehicle this morning when he was shot. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead minutes after his arrival. No arrests have yet been made.
“We were very saddened and shocked to hear that one of our team members was the victim of a crime this morning and died as a result of gunshots. We are working with the local police as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time,” said a spokeswoman for NBC and Universal Television.
Law and Order: Organized Crime was filming its third season. The spin-off of the venerable crime franchise stars Christopher Meloni from SVU as Elliot Stabler, a member of the NYPD’s organized crime unit.
The series follows detectives from the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they work to dismantle New York City’s most vicious and violent illegal businesses. Danielle Moné Truitt, Ainsley Seiger and Nona Parker Johnson also star in the series, which is being directed by Bryan Goluboff.
