Italy, that remedy for melancholy

Italy, that remedy for melancholy

Like Shirley Valentine, or like the forgotten Rosalba Barletta from “Bread and Tulips”, the Danish accountant Marie (Kirsten Olesen), whose professional role is limited to keeping her husband’s company accounts in order while he cheats on her with a neighbor , one day he kicks the board and goes on a joyride. The chosen destination is Puglia, Italy, although in truth those who push her to do so, because she dreams of nothing other than to win it back, are her friends Berling (Stina Ekblad) and Vanja (Kirsten Lehfeldt), each with their own existential dramas. That trip was a gift from his children to their parents, but he is very busy visiting the neighbor, who as the most striking fact, contrary to what one might think, is not only quite unattractive and of the same age, but also of a Horrible bad taste evidenced by the garden gnomes that adorn the entrance to your house. So the trip, whose base is the gastronomic discoveries in Italy (the dream for any Nordic, or for any inhabitant of the planet if we are going to be fair) is taken advantage of by the three friends.
