The heatwave in Europe has had an uncomfortable impact on Eddie Vedder, frontman of the rock band Pearl Jam. Vedder’s voice was so badly affected during one performance that the band has had to cancel at least one concert.
Pearl Jam’s European tour, which has already taken the band to Frankfurt and Berlin, is scheduled to continue until the end of July. But it is unclear whether the remaining concerts can take place. Because the heat wave in Europe has an impact on the band, especially frontman Eddie Vedder. As the band announced on Wednesday, the concert planned for the evening in the Wiener Stadthalle had to be canceled at short notice.
“For everyone who was looking forward to a great Pearl Jam show in Vienna today – so were we. However, due to the extreme weather conditions at the last concert in Paris, our singer Ed Vedder’s voice was affected,” shared the band Instagram with. Heat, dust and smoke from nearby forest fires would have led to these circumstances. Vedder has already consulted doctors, but the vocal cords have not yet recovered. “As a band we are terribly sorry and have been looking for opportunities to perform today. And Ed wants to perform too but his voice just isn’t available right now.” It is impossible for the concert to be repeated. The band pointed out that the ticket price will be refunded. It is still unclear whether the last three European concerts will take place in Prague and on two nights in Amsterdam. The North American tour will start in early September.

The debut album “Ten” alone sold over 15 million copies and stayed on the US charts for over five years, where it reached diamond and triple platinum status. The following three albums each reached number 1 in the US charts, all eleven albums by the band have made it into the top 10 in the USA and into the top 15 in Germany. At the end of 2016, Pearl Jam was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recorded.
