Charlie Watts passed away unexpectedly. His Rolling Stones colleagues Mick Jagger and Keith Richards mourn the drummer.

Drummer Charlie Watts (1941-2021) died unexpectedly on Tuesday (August 24th) at the age of 80. The music world mourns the Rolling Stones drummer. His bandmates Mick Jagger (78) and Keith Richards (77) have now expressed their grief on social media.

Jagger shared a photo, among other things, of Watts laughing exuberantly in his element on the drums. Richards, on which the late musician’s drums can be seen. There is a sign that says “Closed” on it. Neither of them commented on the photos.

Died with his family

Charlie Watts had been the Rolling Stones’ drummer since 1963, a year after the band was formed. A spokesman announced on Tuesday that the Briton had died in a London hospital with his family.

Only in early August had a spokesman stated that Watts would not be on the band’s fall US tour. He has to recover after a successful operation.
