Better Call Saul: Bob Odenkirk revealed which was the chapter they filmed when he had a heart attack

“Episode 9 is everything we filmed after my heart attack and, in fact, it’s the first thing I filmed,” the actor revealed to the EW portal.

“The Pickup Scenes [del episodio 8] They weren’t the first things we shot. So in my brain, I thought, ‘Wait a second, the first thing I shot when I came back from the heart attack was [episodio] 9.’ And that is true. Where I screwed up was, ‘Of course, we didn’t go back and we immediately shot what we were shooting that day, we kept shooting.’ We had a different director. We had Michael Morris directing. We start with those things. And then at some point of filming that stuff, we stopped, Vince [Gilligan, co-creador de la serie que dirigió “Apunta y dispara”] he came back and we picked up the final moments of the scene with me, Lalo and Kim. My brain just had a slip and I apologize to the world.

“But if you’re looking to compare a human being before and after a heart attack,” he adds with a smile, “You’ll want to see the scene with Kim and Jimmy, when Lalo was talking to them about the plan”.

Gilligan discussed Odenkirk’s collapse on set while filming “Point and Shoot” on last week’s installment of the podcast Better Call Saul Insider. “We saw him die. I’ve never seen anything like it, except in a movie”Gilligan said. “When we got back on set with Bob, it was just happiness, just thanks, just gratitude.”

The co-creator had finished directing Odenkirk and Seehorn’s side of the conversation before the heart attack, and the scene was revisited two months later to film Dalton’s side. “It was so good to see Bob there,” Dalton said. “We all saw it on the floor [después del ataque al corazón] and it was like, ‘Oh my God, man.’ Forget the program. This is the worst thing that could happen to someone. [ Risas ] That’s what happens when you mess with Lalo.”

“The impact of that incident on my heart is something that resonates and continues in my life. I think about it all the time. I think about what matters to me and how to live my life.” Odenkirk assured.
