Jean-Michel Jarré sells his entire catalog to the BMG company

The French artist has accumulated 21 albums throughout his career, whose sales are estimated to have brought him profits of more than 85 million dollars.

Notably BMG he already owned the rights to Jarré’s first three albums, due to the fact that in 2012 he had bought the catalog of the independent record label Francis Dreyfus Musicwith which the artist had signed a contract at the beginning to publish his initial works.

Jean Michel-Jarré is one of the most relevant electronic music artists in history, not only for being a pioneer but also because he inspired figures such as Moby, Laurie Anderson, Massive Attack and Pet Shop BoysAmong many.

“There’s a connection between classical and electronic music. Electronic music mostly comes from Germany and France, and it doesn’t have much to do with American classical music. But if you listen to the major electronic music musicians, they have some moves. equal to those of classical music”, Jarré had expressed in an interview with the Télam agency on his last visit to the country in March 2018, by naturalizing the crosses between both styles that became his trademark.

In addition to his impressive career, which includes massive concerts, such as the one offered in Paris on Bastille Day in 1979, which brought together a million people, or in Moscow in 1997, which attracted an audience of 3.5 million; and having the milestone of having been the first Western artist to perform in China in 1981; Jarré is also recognized for his philanthropic work in defense of the rights of creators and the environment.
