Many knew him as the villain from the blockbuster “Titanic”. David Warner has passed away at the age of 80.
Mourning for David Warner (1941-2022): The British actor died in London on July 24 at the age of 80. This has his family “with a heavy heart”: “We, his family and friends, will miss him very much and will remember him as a kind, generous and compassionate man, partner and father.” Warner suffered from cancer, but always took his diagnosis with composure, his family explained in the statement.
The Brit, born in Manchester in 1941, was best known for his role as Spicer Lovejoy, Caledon Hockley’s henchman (Billy Zane, 56), in James Cameron’s (67) blockbuster “Titanic”. In his long career, he often played the villain, in addition to “Titanic” in “The 39 Steps” (1978) or in “Time Bandits” (1981).
From “Star Trek” to “Mary Poppins”
But Warner will also be remembered by many as photographer Keith Jennings from “The Omen” (1976). He also embodied various characters in the “Star Trek” franchise. Warner was last seen alongside Emily Blunt (39) in “Mary Poppins’ Return” (2018).
Warner was married to Harriet Lidgren from 1969 to 1972. In 1981 he remarried with Sheilah Kent, and they had a son together in 1982.
