A portrait of Mick Jagger by Warhol doubled its auction value

Signed by both protagonists, the color work on Arches Aquarelle paper, approximately one meter by 70 centimeters, was signed in pencil by the pop artist and in marker by the British singer, and is numbered, as it is the 129th copy of a total of 250 impressions.

The serigraphy was the main work of the online art auction that Christie’s house held and also exhibited to the public at its headquarters in New York, at Rockefeller Center.

Warhol had with the singer of the Rolling Stones a relationship of friendship and admiration: not only did he take pictures of Jagger but he was also in charge of designing one of the most famous covers in rock history, that of “Sticky Fingers”from the British band.

The works sold 138% above the low estimate, while the auction was led by the Rolling Stones singer’s portrait, which fetched more than double its estimate of 100,000, selling for $201,600.
