House of the Dragon: George RR Martin misses the premiere after testing positive for Covid-19

“I wanted to tell you what a pleasure it is and how lucky we are to have the architect of this world on this journey with us,” Bloys continued. “It’s been fantastic.”

Last Saturday, Martin opened up about Covid-19 during the show’s Comic-Con panel, sharing that he’s been being careful and staying socially distanced during the pandemic. Martin said that he had been spending a lot of time at his home in Santa Fe, NM, opting not to visit the set of House of the Dragon during production.

The author also confirmed that he is focusing his attention on completing the work of The Winds of Winterthe long-awaited and ostensibly penultimate entry in his series of novels on which he based game of Thrones.

“You may not know it, but there’s this book I’m writing, it’s a little late,” Martin said at Comic-Con. “I can’t see myself visiting a set or doing anything until I’m done and I turn in that book.”

Ryan County Y Miguel Sapotchnikwho serve as co-executive producers and co-executive producers of House of the Dragon, then took to the stage at the premiere. The duo presented the evening screening of the series’ pilot, which Condal wrote and Soptochnik directed.

“’House of the Dragon’ could not exist without the beautiful work and words of George RR Martin,” said Conda. “We are incredibly grateful that he was bold enough to entrust his work to me as a writer and to Miguel as a director.”
