organizer Andreas Pozlberger quit for personal reasons. “Some things can come to an end,” says the 59-year-old, who has been teaching cello at Bruckner University since 1987.
Before that, as usual, there are three selected concerts in one week – this time exclusively quintets: on Saturday, September 3, they come from Franz Schubert and César Franck, on Wednesday, September 7, from Johannes Brahms and Schubert (Trout Quintet) and on Saturday, September 10, by Antonin Dvorák and Brahms (6 p.m. each).
making music with friends
The program is selected according to very personal preferences, says Pözlberger: “These are pieces that are close to my heart and that I like to play with friends, colleagues and young musicians,” says the cellist, who plays the instrument himself on all three evenings. It is important to him to keep admission prices low: the festival pass for all three concerts costs 45 euros. “It’s only possible because there are private sponsors,” says the musician, who lives in Regau with his wife. He found the venue by accident 17 years ago: a colleague suggested the small church, which can seat up to 170, for a CD recording. This plan fell through – but the good acoustics stuck in Pözlberger’s memory. Since then he has used the church once a year for the festival. See you this year.
