Martina Voss-Tecklenburg: Special award for the national coach

The women’s European Championship final is on July 31st. For coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg there is an extra incentive to win the final.

National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg (54) should already be highly motivated to win the European Championship title with her DFB soccer team on Sunday (kick-off at 6:00 p.m., Das Erste). Voss-Tecklenburg’s husband Hermann (74) has now created a very special incentive not to give the English women a chance in the final.

The building contractor revealed to the newspaper that his wife would be able to fulfill a long-cherished dream in the event of the European Championship triumph: their own finca on the Spanish island of Mallorca, their shared “oasis of calm”.

Years of concern

“Martina has wanted a house there for years. But a house is binding. That’s why I’ve always said no,” says Hermann Tecklenburg. However, should it work out with the title at the weekend, he wants to throw his concerns overboard. Then “I will agree to the request. Then we’ll look around for a place to live while we’re on vacation.” Exactly in a week the two should go to Spain.

Voss-Tecklenburg and the entrepreneur, who is 20 years his senior, have been married since 2009. The national coach, who succeeded Horst Hrubesch (71) from 2018, has a daughter from a previous relationship.
