Donald Trump: Ivana’s grave is so sad

Glamorous while alive, forced to be modest after death: Donald Trump’s first wife Ivana was buried on one of his golf courses – nothing remains of the pomp of yesteryear.

It’s hard to believe that a former member of New York’s high society is buried in this resting place. The funeral took place about two weeks after the accidental death of Donald Trump’s first wife Ivana. However, the grave does not correspond at all to the luxurious life that Ivana led – and causes a great sensation worldwide.

Dreary heap of earth instead of a luxury burial ground

Ivana Trump’s resting place is on the grounds of Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Photographer Daniel William McKnight’s images go around the world. You can see a fresh grave on the edge of a forest, a small, white bouquet of flowers and a short plaque. It reads, “Ivana Trump, February 20, 1949, July 14, 2022.” There is no decoration, no tombstone, not even a tombstone.

After all: The “New York Post” reports that the grave is in a place on the course where no golfers play. Rather, it is near the clubhouse and, according to an article in the Daily Mail, Trump is said to have talked about converting this part of the golf course into a cemetery for his family and building a mausoleum there as early as 2007. Trump has held a license to build a 10-person cemetery there since 2014. 530 square meters should be reserved for this – and the former president wants to be buried there himself.

A cemetery saves taxes – goats too

Originally, the ex-president wanted to create space for 1,000 people there and allow members of his golf club to secure a grave. Trump failed with these plans in the city, it is currently said that there should be an expansion to around 300 graves. Admission to the Bedminster Club is said to cost $350,000, with annual membership fees likely to be between $14,000 and $25,000.

The family cemetery on the golf course shouldn’t be completely altruistic, writes “Parish & Company”. Because a cemetery costs significantly less tax in New Jersey than a golf course – and with the grave and the license, the property is now one. The keeping of eight goats on the site probably has a similar background – because the property is also considered agricultural land, which also costs less taxes, as the “Wall Street Journal” reports. And by the way, the animals keep the lawn short in an environmentally friendly way.
