Vienna is continuing on its path of caution and is accompanying the current opening steps by the federal government with further measures to prevent the intensive care beds from being overloaded, said the mayor’s office on Wednesday afternoon. The city chief had previously held discussions with a panel of experts.
The concrete measures
Specifically, Vienna is tightening the “3G rules” and only allows PCR tests and monitored antigen tests from the pharmacy or test street as access tests. Only one visitor with an FFP2 mask may be received per hospital patient per day. In the catering sector, contact details will continue to be collected in order to further enable contact tracing. Children from 6 years of age need a valid corona test to attend events, restaurants or the outdoor pool.
School-age children as well as various professional groups such as teachers, employees in the catering industry or in body-related services continue to be tested regularly.
“The health crisis is not over yet. The mutation of the virus must be taken very seriously, because the Delta variant is significantly more infectious; and the medical experts expect an impact on hospital occupancy,” said Mayor Michael Ludwig. Finally, Ludwig appealed: “The best way to combat the virus is to fully immunize the population. Therefore, once again: Please get vaccinated!”
The measures apply from July 1st.
