Rolling Stones: Keith Richards hopes there will be a new album before the end of the year

In conversations with matt wilkinson for the podcast The Rolling Stones: 60th Anniversary Special podcast in AppleMusicthe guitarist of the Stones, Keith Richards, has shared that he hopes the band will have new material recorded by the end of the year. Without going into much detail, he commented that he still cannot reveal in which formats the follow-up to his latest studio album, Blue & Lonesome published in 2016.

Previously, Richards confirmed that this new installment will have the support of Steve Jordan to finish the album. Jordan has been the replacement for the original drummer, charlie watts, who passed away in August of last year. “I was like, ‘I can’t do this without Charlie,’” Richards recalled. “But Charlie told me, ‘You can do it with Steve. He can take my place whenever he wants.’ And he convinced me. Damn, he loved that man.”

In recent years, the Stones have released four live albums that preceded their latest studio release: A Bigger Bang: Live on Copacabana Beach of 2021, Steel Wheels Live released in 2020, preceded by Bridges to Buenos Aires of 2019 and Sticky Fingers Live at Fonda Theater in 2017.

The celebration of his six decades of musical career has been big, after the documentary series premiered last month My Life as a Rolling Stone produced by Mercury Studios that tries to “capture the brilliance of Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie: their dazzling charisma and musical gifts, but also the special alchemy that has made the Stones an irresistible cultural powerhouse and the band that everyone loves. others really want to be.”
