Suspect arrested for stealing Lady Gaga’s dogs
Authorities in the United States announced that they have recaptured a man suspected of shooting an employee of Lady Gaga to steal the star’s dogs while he was walking them, four months after he was mistakenly released.
Investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department and the US Marshals, the agency tasked with prosecuting fugitives, said in a statement Wednesday that they arrested James Howard Jackson in Palmdale, an hour from Los Angeles, “without incident.”
The 19-year-old was released on April 6 due to a clerical error and a reward of up to $5,000 was offered for any information leading to his capture.
Jackson is suspected of being part of the gang of three accused of carrying out the violent robbery, and of shooting Ryan Fisherthe employee of Lady Gaga walking the singer’s three French bulldogs in Hollywood in February 2021.
Jackson’s arrest comes just as one of the other two suspects in the group, Jaylin Keyshawn White20, was sentenced to four years in prison in Los Angeles after pleading guilty to robbery.
Surveillance camera footage taken at the time of the attack showed two men getting out of a car near Fischer, before shooting him in the chest.
The individuals then grabbed two of the dogs, Koji and Gustav, and fled, leaving the injured employee on the ground. The third dog, Miss Asia, escaped to later return to Fischer.
Lady Gaga was offering $500,000 for her prized French bulldogs.
A woman, who claimed to have found them tied to a post, returned them but was arrested because, according to the police, she had a relationship with the father of one of the attackers and had been in charge of collecting the reward on his behalf.
Ultimately, the three suspects were charged with attempted murder and robbery in April 2021.
