Record tourism in the winter holidays

5,186,281 traveled, which, with an average stay of 4 days and an average daily expenditure of $5,830, left direct revenues of $120,944 million.

At constant prices, the economic impact increased 102.2% compared to the 2021 winter holidays.

The important rise compared to last year occurred because the number of tourists grew 24.9%, the average stay increased 5.3% and the average daily disbursement, at constant prices, rose 53.8%.

The increase in daily spending was greatly influenced by the injection of money from international visitors, in addition to the fact that this year families made trips to longer distances than in 2021, involving more transportation costs. There was also a greater offer of recreational, sports and cultural activities (last year they were more limited due to the pandemic).

The snow product was one of the jewels of this break. The great snowfalls aroused much enthusiasm and it was noted in the increase in visitors that the cities with this resource had this year.

Half of the people who traveled in July did so for leisure or recreation. The rest to visit family, friends, visit a fair, attend a show or participate in sports competitions, especially car races, soccer tournaments, rugby, golf, or marathons.

According to official statistics from the National Ministry of Tourism and Sports, more than 300,000 people enjoyed the Pre-Trip benefit during these winter holidays, generating revenues of more than $9,000 million for the sector just as a result of this program. Patagonian destinations such as Bariloche, San Martín de los Andes, Puerto Madryn, El Calafate and Ushuaia stood out among the most chosen.
