US actor Edward “Ed” Asner (1929-2021) died on Sunday in Los Angeles with his family. Popular title character in “Lou Grant”
One of his best-known roles was that of journalist Lou Grant in the drama series of the same name (1977-1982). He previously played the same role in the TV series “Mary Tyler Moore Show” (1970-1977).
Asner is the most decorated male actor in Emmys history and received the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2001. He was also honored with five Golden Globe Awards and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1992.
