Bronze bust for “Mister Wonderful”

Bronze bust for “Mister Wonderful”

From 1992 to 2012, Serafin was artistic director of the Mörbisch Lake Festival. During his era, he took the festival founded by Herbert Alsen in 1957 into new dimensions. On December 24, 2021, “Mister Wunderbar” turned 90. In the past few months, Franz Gyolcs, one of the most renowned sculptors in Burgenland, has made a bust in his honor, which now has its place opposite that of Alsen.

“In addition to the founder Herbert Alsen, the Mörbisch Lake Festival is of course inextricably linked to Harald Serafin. With his unique personality and his tireless commitment, he helped shape the level of awareness of the cultural state of Burgenland far beyond the state’s borders for two decades,” emphasized Doskozil.

“I’m really touched and very happy about this recognition,” said Serafin. “I love Mörbisch and Burgenland.”

In the coming year, General Manager Alfons Haider will present the cult musical “Mamma Mia!” with the music of ABBA on the lake stage. Ticket sales begin on September 1st.
