The popular actress Heide Keller has died. The ZDF announced. The former “dream ship” legend was 81 years old.
The popular actress Heide Keller (1941-2021) died on Friday (August 27th) at the age of 81. The ZDF announced on Monday afternoon. From 1981 to 2018 she sailed the oceans as popular hostess Beatrice in the “dream ship” for the broadcaster.
“Heide Keller has made television history. In the role of head hostess Beatrice, she was the good spirit on board the ‘dream ship’ for 38 years – a record. No other actress has embodied a comparable series role for so long,” says Heike Hempel, deputy ZDF Program Director. And further: “She also wrote the script herself, developed her character further and made her a German cult figure. We will miss her very much.”
Special broadcasts
Heide Keller had her last appearance on the “Dream Ship” in the 80th episode of the Dream Ship “Los Angeles” (2018). This sequence is repeated on Monday night at 0.25 a.m. Afterwards at 1.55 the documentary “Das Traumschiff – Spezial” gives a look behind the scenes. On Saturday (September 4th, 1:35 pm) the episode “Chile” will also be shown on ZDF.
