Mindler was found dead on August 28, three days after his disappearance. The dean of his university confirmed the death report in one of the following statements: “It is with great sadness in my heart that I have to announce the death of 19-year-old Matthew Mindler (…), a freshman student at Millersville University.”
The college previously worked with the police to find the missing student. On Saturday morning, Mindler was found dead in the Manor Township community not far from campus. Rumors quickly spread that Mindler had committed suicide.
