The meeting of the ravers in Zurich marked a restart of the scene after two unusual parties. The visitors enjoyed themselves in the best weather. However, there was also a fatal incident.
According to the organizers, around 900,000 people in Zurich danced and celebrated at one of the largest techno parties in the world in the best summer weather. After a Corona break in 2019 and 2020, the city is back as a meeting place for ravers from Switzerland and abroad.
The 29th Street Parade was themed “Think!”. According to the organizing committee, only those who think can confirm, tick off or readjust their actions and prejudices. The meeting was largely peaceful. The police reported 36 provisional arrests on Sunday in their balance sheet, including for theft, assault and drug offenses.
Fatal swimming accident
The party was overshadowed by the fatal swimming accident of a 27-year-old visitor to the Street Parade. According to the police, the Swiss jumped into the water in the area of the move in the early afternoon and did not reappear. The water police specialists could have rescued the man from the lake a short time later. But any help came too late.
In the early Saturday afternoon, the first of around 25 Love Mobiles – colorfully decorated trucks with large music systems and dancers – started their two-kilometer circuit around the lake basin. The people on the side of the road danced in the best of moods to the booming beats. DJs played electronic music on eight stages along the route in the Swiss metropolis, which is otherwise primarily known as a location for banks and insurance companies.
Numerous buses and trains from abroad had already arrived in Zurich in the morning to bring the techno fans to the party. Around 850,000 people took part in the last parade before the corona pandemic in 2019.
