Ex-music star: Second trial against R. Kelly started

R. Kelly has already been sentenced to decades in prison – but now the ex-pop star is being tried again. It is also about a video that has become famous.

Just a few weeks after being sentenced to 30 years in prison for the abuse of minors, ex-pop star R. Kelly is back in court. In his hometown of Chicago, the trial in a federal court to select jury members began on Monday, local media reported on Monday.

Overall, Kelly is accused of 13 counts: Among other things, because of the production of child pornography in several cases, the incitement of minors to sexual acts and the obstruction of justice. Two of his former employees have also been charged.

Long list of charges

In Chicago there is also a video that has been known for many years that shows Kelly (55) abusing a 14-year-old girl and urinating on her. In this case, the musician had already been acquitted by a jury in 2008.

The public prosecutor’s office now accuses him of having put pressure on the victim so that she does not testify in the process. In the upcoming court hearing, the now adult woman should testify.

The “I believe I can fly” singer was sentenced to 30 years in prison and a $100,000 fine in an abuse trial in New York at the end of June – including for the sexual exploitation of minors.
