Everyday digital work: Slack wants to expand with new functions

Slack wants to adapt its functions even more to the increasingly digital everyday work. The instant messenger service introduces new functions for this purpose.

The office communications provider Slack wants to use new functions to emulate everyday work in a digital work environment. On Wednesday, the US company presented, among other things, the possibility of addressing colleagues informally.

The idea is like dropping by their desk in the office. In another function, employees can share videos of up to three minutes with ideas or suggestions with colleagues.

The innovations were also due to the fact that the company itself increasingly used its own digital work tools during the corona pandemic, said Slack manager Katherine Kelly. With the changing world of work, it is more about finding a balance between productivity and flexibility.

Slack is currently being taken over by SAP rival Salesforce for 28 billion dollars (currently around 23.6 billion euros). Salesforce is also banking heavily on a future with hybrid working from the office and from home.
