Tim Burton will direct from the script written by Thousands Thousand Y Alfred Gough. The writers spoke with Vanity Fair about what she went through to find her new Homer. “[Burton] I wanted the silhouette to be more like the cartoons of Charles Addams, which is Homer shorter than Morticia, compared to the smooth version of Raul Julia in the movies,” Gough said.
