With almost tropical temperatures – according to organizer Harry Jenner “best weather” – the event in St. Pölten opened today, Thursday, after a two-year Corona break. Rapper SSIO and hyperpop duo 100 Gecs already made the first festival visitors jump. 50,000 visitors are expected in Green Park today and over the next two days.
The fact that music fans had missed the Frequency was shown by the large crowds in front of the cash desks and shuttle buses, which transported more or less clothed, but in any case sweating, fans to the festival grounds. The tents have already been pitched there, while the Traisen has become a refreshment and bathing resort. However, the first visitors did not come on Thursday, as the “Prequence” on Wednesday had already attracted many people.
The appearance of the German rapper SSIO was even postponed because of the rush. Instead of the “Prequency”, he performed today on the big “Green Stage” – and also attracted a lot of fans at the officially opened Frequency with regard to the fact that he was on stage in the early afternoon. Meanwhile, on the “Space Stage”, the duo 100 Gecs set the first musical accents in front of a small but enthusiastic crowd. With a loud, distorted voice it sounded from the stage, in the background the two Americans generously relied on crazy videos.
The headliner on the “Space Stage” shows that Frequency can also be more commercial: pop singer Jason Derulo, always up for a club hit, plays there well into the night. Before that, RAF Camora and Bonez MC will bring hip hop to the “Space Stage”, headliner Cypress Hill will do the same on the “Green Stage”. The Austrians Lisa Pac and Folkshilfe are expected on the “Red Bull Stage”. That’s not the end of the night for night owls: DJs Matoma and Alle Farben, for example, perform in the Nightpark.
