The magic of freshly purchased clothes often goes out after the first wearing when unsightly lints appear on the textiles. But where do they come from – and how do you get rid of them again? We’ll tell you.
When lints form into small nodules, Pilling is talking about. This process is started by friction and movement – or cleaning in the washing machine. It is often affected by clothing made of natural materials such as wool or cotton. But textiles from art fibers can also have the unsightly nodules. So you say nothing about the quality or origin of the material, but are to be understood as a kind of annoying side effect. The question arises: How can lint be removed? And can you even prevent them?

- With a can be removed particularly well from the clothes. There is even that are washable.
- A classic On the other hand, loose fibers and hair absorbs by stroking the line against textiles.
- If the lints stand on the edge of clothing than thin stripes, they can be cut off with an ordinary scissors.
- Another household trick is the use of a kitchen sponge: with the yellow, soft side should be stripped off.
- This technique works with a similarly good or even better with which (by electrostatic charging) lint and hair can be wiped off textiles.
- Alternatively, an old nylon tights can also be used: roam them over your hand and thus spread over the lint on the clothing (in one direction).
This is how they counteract the lint formation
So that less lint on your clothes (unfortunately you cannot be avoided), you can take preventive measures: A general recommendation is to always turn the laundry on the left before it is cleaned in the machine – this should be the friction be reduced. In addition, it can be helpful to the textiles in front of each wash in a fine admit. And to empty the bags beforehand. Another recommendation is to wash sensitive clothing better by hand and not to put it in the dryer. On the other hand, you should refrain from adding vinegar in front of each wash, since it is supposed to reduce the static charge (and thus the nodule formation), but also harms the rubber seals of the machine.
