The coffin of the late Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis is to be laid out in the cathedral of Athens so that the people can say goodbye. The semi-official Greek news agency ANA reported on Friday.
From Tuesday, citizens can visit the mourning site during the day before a funeral mass is to be held on Thursday afternoon at the end.
It remained unclear where Mikis Theodorakis would ultimately be buried; he himself had expressed in writing the wish to be buried in a suburb of the city of Chania in Crete, where the grave of his family is also located. According to media reports, however, his final resting place could also be on the Peloponnese peninsula.
Mikis Theodorakis died in Athens on Thursday at the age of 96. The composer and former resistance fighter is revered as a folk hero in Greece and has millions of fans internationally.
