Jamie Oliver: His wife Jools has been suffering from Long Covid for two years

The corona pandemic also hit the family of British star chef Jamie Oliver. In an interview, the 47-year-old said that his wife fell seriously ill – and is still suffering from the consequences today.

Star chef Jamie Oliver revealed in an interview that his wife Jools was seriously ill with Corona at the beginning of the pandemic and she has been suffering from Long Covid for two years now. “Unfortunately, it hit her really hard,” the 47-year-old told Daily Mail Weekend magazine.

She’s doing okay now, “but still not the way she’d like it to be.” “She finds it very scary,” Oliver said. The couple have visited numerous doctors in London – without success. “Nobody really knows anything. The data on Long Covid is only being collected.” Although his wife has not been doing well for two years, she masters everyday life. “She was an absolute superstar,” enthused the Brit.

Jamie Oliver did not reveal exactly how long Covid disease affects his wife. Typical symptoms include shortness of breath, exhaustion, difficulty concentrating, and chest and muscle pain. Almost two million people are currently living with Long Covid in the UK, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The corona pandemic and his wife’s illness made him fundamentally rethink his life, said Jamie Oliver. “Who do you want to spend your time with? What does real happiness mean? If Corona has done anything good, it’s focusing on the essentials. I try to act on it.”

Jamie and Jools Oliver have been a couple for 30 years and have five children together. He said of his three daughters in the interview: “I haven’t dealt with teenage boys yet, but I found teenage girls very difficult. (…) When they turn 13, you’re dropped. Everything you do want are a few hugs a day and being appreciated but the chemistry just isn’t right. After age 13 you don’t get the kids back. They change completely. It took a while to get over it. I really have struggled with the teenage years.”
