The celebrity couple Thomas Helmer and Yasmina Filali have separated after 21 years and many a catastrophe they have experienced together.
Actress Yasmina Filali (46) and ex-soccer player and presenter Thomas Helmer (57) went through life together for 21 years – 17 of them as spouses. But that’s over now, as the two have confirmed together. “Unfortunately, our relationship didn’t survive the third seventh year,” the two said.
It was a “fantastic 21 years” in which they “laughed a lot and sometimes cried” together. “Not only did we survive three natural disasters, but we also brought the two greatest children into this world.”
What they mean by that: In 2004 they were on site in Thailand when a tsunami swept across the country at Christmas. In 2011, they witnessed hurricane “Irene” in the USA, as well as an attempted coup in Turkey in 2016 – strictly speaking, of course, not a natural disaster.
It stays family
Despite the separation, Helmer and Filali always want to be there for each other and their children: “We grew up together and not only remain friendly and family, but also connected in our hearts.”
