Peter Maffay and Hendrikje Balsmeyer have been a couple for seven years. For the first time, the musician and the teacher talked about their love together in a TV interview.
Their relationship made headlines at the end of 2015: At that time, musician Peter Maffay announced that he had a new woman by his side – Hendrikje Balsmeyer, a teacher and 38 years younger than him. Maffay had just married his partner at the time, Tania Spengler, in a church a few months earlier.
Maffay and Balsmeyer have been a couple for seven years, and in 2018 they became parents of a daughter. For “Gala TV” the two have now spoken for the first time together in front of the camera about their love. “I liked Hendrikje’s spontaneity and creativity. She’s funny, mostly. And also cheeky. I like that up to a certain point,” said the 72-year-old.
The 35-year-old in turn explained: “You should really cross out your prejudices. It was important to me that I find someone who would take me by the hand and teach me things. That I don’t stand still, that I develop myself.” She admitted that Maffay has a obsession with order. “If things are different on the table or the chairs are arranged differently, then he puts them all back in the same place. Peter Maffay is currently on a tour of Germany, accompanied not only by his girlfriend Hendrikje, but also by his son Yaris. The 18-year-old comes from his marriage to Tania Spengler and wants to be a musician like his father. “It’s a nice little circus that travels here,” said Maffay.
