Billie Eilish and her mother Maggie are honored. The two are committed to the environment – and receive an award for it.

The American singer Billie Eilish (20) and her mother Maggie Baird (63) can look forward to a special award. The mother-daughter team will be honored at the upcoming Environmental Media Association (EMA) gala. At the event on October 8, 2022, they are to receive the “EMA Missions in Music” award, . “For her incredible work as role models for sustainable behavior,” including Eilish’s recent tour, according to the organization.

Maggie Baird is proud of her daughter

Together, Eilish and Baird created Overheated, an event with climate-themed activities. These include clothing swaps, documentaries and lectures on veganism to provide information about sustainable fashion and encourage fans to get involved. The multi-day event was announced in May 2022 and took place in London as part of their “Happier Than Ever” world tour in June.

“I am very happy to accept the ‘EMA Missions in Music’ award this year alongside my daughter,” said Baird, who has been committed to the environment, climate and animals for more than 40 years. “I’m so proud that Billie is using her voice to inspire younger audiences and advocate for change.” Eilish grew up vegetarian and has been vegan for a number of years.

Past recipients of the award include country legend Willie Nelson (89), singer Adam Levine (43), composer Diane Warren (65) and singer Alanis Morissette (48).

“Twilight” star Nikki Reed is also honored

Debbie Levin, CEO of the EMA, further quoted the gala as a good way to recognize the work that environmentalists “have done all year”. It is also an opportunity to “present sustainable brands and executives” and to celebrate “green milestones”. “Twilight” star Nikki Reed (34) is also honored and receives the “EMA Innovator” award for her environmentally friendly lifestyle and jewelry brand.

The Environmental Media Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 by Cindy Horn (65) and Lyn Lear. The EMA works closely with the entertainment industry to promote environmentally friendly production.
