Because in the end it was his girlfriend, actress and director Olivia Wilde, who suffered when the age difference between the two (ten years) was discussed online.

But not only that: Videos showing Wilde dancing also circulated and were the subject of some anti-Olivia Wilde jokes. “Of course that doesn’t give me a good feeling,” he says in an interview with “Rolling Stone” magazine, whose cover he adorns. But Styles is careful not to lump his fans together. “It’s obviously a difficult feeling when you realize that being close to me means you’re being held hostage by some corner of Twitter or something,” he explains. “I just wanted to sing. I wouldn’t do it if it hurt people,” says Styles.
However, Wilde sees her partner’s fan base in a much more uncomplicated way. She describes them as “deeply loving people” and makes it clear that the few exceptions don’t actually fit into the fan group. “What I don’t understand about the cruelty you’re referring to is that this kind of toxic negativity is the opposite of Harry and everything he represents,” she told Rolling Stone. “Personally, I don’t think that hateful energy defines his fanbase. Most of them are true advocates of kindness,” Wilde said.
Relationship with Olivia Wilde
Not only Styles’ relationships were always an issue, but also his sexuality. Not least because the former One Direction musician likes to show himself in gender-fluid clothing. Similar to David Bowie, Styles also expresses his creativity through his fashion. He has had his own experiences and discovered his sexuality, he explains to the magazine. “Sometimes people say, ‘You’ve only been out with women,’ and I don’t think I’ve ever been out in public with anyone at all. If someone takes a picture of you with someone, it doesn’t mean that you decided to go public or something,” he explains his reticence when it comes to relationships.
Styles and Olivia Wilde met while filming Don’t Worry Darling, where she was directing. A little later, the actress separated from her husband Jason Sudeikis and the first paparazzi shots of her and Styles caused a stir. They don’t reveal in the interview whether the two are thinking about having children together, but the 28-year-old already knows: “If I ever have children, I will encourage them to be themselves, to be vulnerable and to share.”
