The artistic director of Venice Film Festival, Alberto Barberawill present the opening panel, which will include the Ukrainian ambassador to Italy, Yaroslav Melnyk; the director of the National Film Institution of Ukraine, Marina Koderchuk; Antonio LukichUkrainian director of Luxembourg Luxembourgwhich this year will be screened in competition in the Orizzonti section of Venice; Yevgeny Afineevskydirector of the documentary out of competition Freedom on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom; Pavlo Makovexhibiting artist at the Ukrainian Pavilion at the 59th Venice Art Biennale; Boris Philonenkocurator of the Ukrainian Pavilion; Polina Tolmacheva, representative of the Council for State Support of Cinematography of Ukraine; Ukrainian actress, filmmaker and cultural attaché Darya Tregubova; and the Ukrainian producer Andriy Nogin.
The talk will focus on the challenges faced by filmmakers within the war-torn country and on cooperation, including co-production opportunities, between Ukraine and Italy.
After the panel, there will be a presentation of various Ukrainian projects at different stages of development and production, with the aim of connecting Ukrainian filmmakers with international producers and financiers.
The 2022 Venice Film Festival will take place from August 31 to September 10.
