Julia Fox, who became known for her role as a jewelry saleswoman in the film “The Black Diamond”, where she shone alongside Adam Sandler, is regarded as talented and extremely creative – but also as a rather idiosyncratic character. She briefly dated rapper Kanye West in January this year, only to later claim the two were just trying to give people something to talk about during the pandemic. Prior to this short-lived romance, however, Fox was married to pilot Peter Artemiev for several years. From this marriage comes her son Valentino.
However, there doesn’t seem to be a very typical mother-child relationship between the 32-year-old and her son – at least that’s what you can conclude when you look at the actress’ current TikTok video. In it, she not only expresses unusual views about the “concept of childhood” – but also has a very clear tip for all parents when it comes to gifts for the offspring.
Julia Fox doesn’t believe in spoiling children
“Well, I suggest that everyone buy their kid a mini mop and a mini broom and teach them how to do housework while they’re little. Then when they conquer the world, those kids don’t have to do everything get outside help. They know how to do things themselves. I think that’s very important.” That’s what the actress says while filming herself lounging in bed for TikTok. Fox says their 19-month-old son Valentino is much more interested in imitating his mother than playing with toys.
She also expresses her very own views on the subject of childhood: “The idea of childhood was only invented so that parents spend a lot of money on nonsense that doesn’t teach children anything,” she judges harshly. Up until the 18th century, people weren’t concerned about a good childhood – “before that, children were just seen as little adults,” says Fox. Maybe she forgets that children had to work in mines or as chimney sweeps at the time…
