The series will cover Williams navigating media scrutiny throughout his career, as well as his addiction struggles, professional and personal breakups, reunions, recovery, and the impact all of this has had on the artist’s mental health. .

With 25 years of never-before-seen intimate archives and exclusive access to Williams, Netflix says the project will be a definitive series on the musician and an “unrestrained look” that will reveal a more nuanced style and multifaceted Williams.

The series is directed by Joe Pearlman (“Bros: After the Screaming Stops”) and executive produced by the Oscar-winning director of “Amy,” Asif Kapadya.

Also executive producing is Dominic Crossley-Holland (“The Love of Money,” “All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace”).

Alongside the series, which is produced by RSA in conjunction with RPW Productions and ie:music, a narrative biopic based on Williams’ life is also set to be released.

“A Better Man” has been in process since 2021 and is being led by the director of “The Greatest Showman”, Michael Gracey. Shot on location in Australia, the film will feature Williams playing himself, while the British star Jonno Davies will play a younger version of the singer.
