Rosalía, at full speed with the “Motomami” at the Movistar Arena

Rosalía, at full speed with the “Motomami” at the Movistar Arena

“It will be about three years since I came here for the first time, it was the first performance of the previous tour, El Mal Querer, we opened it here. And I remember having the feeling that, suddenly, for the first time in my life, outside the place where I am, I was welcomed like this. I remember a lot, a lot of the love you gave me, that you were singing: ‘It scares me when you saaaleees’…”, Rosalía began to sing as she broke down when she noticed that the Movistar Arena could take care of singing the song without any help .

After a while, she began to talk to the nearby public and read the signs that surrounded her. “Rosalia, would you sign my ass?” quoted between laughs the Catalan. That request was close to being fulfilled, but soon another one arrived that was fulfilled: “Rosa, would you sing some verses from “Alfonsina y el mar?”. “It was one of the first songs I learned,” said the 29-year-old.

Each song was a video clip recorded live by a cameraman who was part of the spectacular choreography of the queer dancers. After going down with the public to sing with them “Last night’s night” returned to the stage clad in a national flag given to her by a fan before cutting extensions and cleaning her makeup to “Devil”. He also said a lot without speaking when he tied around his neck the green scarf in favor of legal, safe and free abortion that was thrown at him from the field, shortly before twerking to “The Combi Versace”.

Not only was there no need for a band or a maximalist set design to reflect the Catalan’s latest project, it was not needed. All of this distracts the viewer from what is most important and from the core of Rosalía: her voice and her choreography. The live show was planned as a performative extension of the album under the motto “less is more”. The eight queer dancers managed to support and empower the artist, who gave them prominence at different times, such as when they formed a human motorcycle for her to ride “motomi”or when they blew kisses at the camera taking charge of the verses of “Linda”.

“Motomami” is also a project that pays tribute to reggaeton classics like Daddy Yankee and Wisin. Live, this is enhanced when time is given to revert a classic of the genre: “Forgive me” (La Factoría). He continued with “Relationship”, “TKN” and “Me x you, you for me”. However, the dance reached its peak when they released the dance floor. “Despecha” and the public broke their throats in the last hit of the Catalan. At the same time, the singer invited three Argentine fans to the stage who were lucky enough not only to dance, but also to sing with Rosalía.

Closing the night, a gift arrived with the presentation of a new song that has not yet been released (“ISOLAMIENTO”) and a remix of “Blinding Lights”. Could not miss the first success “BADLY” before “saying goodbye” to the Movistar Arena to leave the stage for a few minutes and return on a skateboard with his dancers to dance with “Teriyaki Chicken” and “With height”. With her powerful voice and her ability to break it and transmit pain she intoned “Sakura” and then closed high with the carioca madness of “CUUUUuuuuuuute”.

With tears in her eyes and a smile full of love, Rosalía humbly and simply said goodbye to her first Movistar Arena.
