In the fake #endetahoam campaign, Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer demands the admission of refugees, some of whom have been in refugee camps for years. The artist collective “Creative Sisters United” is committed to stern to the action and calls for more humanity in the conversation.
The authors meanwhile call it “satire”: In the political campaign #endetdahoam on the internet and on social media, an artistic collective pretended to be the CSU. Underlaid with picturesque music, big words and a Bavarian accented voice in the video, imitating Horst Seehofer, the campaign called on all municipalities and districts to take in as many refugees as possible from the refugee camps (stern reported).
The website went online on Tuesday morning, and Horst Seehofer’s spokesman Steve Alter’s denial followed in the afternoon via Twitter. The campaign’s Instagram account, which, according to media reports, was opened in April, was taken off the platform on the same day. At first glance, the side of “” was professional and formulated sentences like: “In the interests of my party and its Christian values: We want to put an end to the suffering at the borders of the European Union before the upcoming federal election.” On closer inspection, however, abnormalities quickly became apparent.
The CSU stands for “Creative Sisters United”
In the meantime, a self-proclaimed artist called “Creative Sisters United” has confessed to the campaign, and the website has been completely redesigned. stern spoke to a representative of the collective, everyone wants to remain anonymous. The only note: In the imprint there is now a name that is supposed to come “from the haze of artists” – nothing more is revealed.
The idea for the campaign came to them after the fire in the Moria refugee camp in September 2020. Several of those involved are said to have been there to help on site, but that was not enough for them. This is how the campaign came about, which ultimately went online because the collective is convinced that refugees are not considered in the election campaign or in the recently published election programs.

“The lie should correspond to the truth”
Why publish this way, impersonating the wrong person? A legitimate means of attracting attention that is presumably covered by artistic freedom, the spokeswoman said: “In this case, the lie should actually be the truth – that the interior minister of a Christian party advocates for refugees. It’s basically twisted that in reality we are unfortunately confronted with a completely different development. ”
That is why the spokeswoman formulates the collective’s goal: “A campaign that is professionally set up, but clearly differs in terms of content from Horst Seehofer and the CSU, so that the authenticity is actually questioned the first time you look at it. a hosting service in Iceland. However, the quality should be high enough to stimulate discussion. ”
“Looking at what is happening in Greece and at the borders, we as citizens are desperate”
Sentences like “Horst Seehofer is the initiator of the ‘Finally there’-Kampagne “is now little left, the party logo of the CSU is gone. Instead, there is a commitment to art and an open letter with clear demands: the immediate empowerment of receptive and willing partners and an immediate change of course in the asylum policy of the federal government. In addition, donations are now being requested for non-governmental organizations such as Watershed and the civil aid organization Sea-Eye.
Critical reactions in both directions
And the echo? Especially on Twitter, some people react sourly to the stylistic device. From a “so far unique disinformation campaign before a federal election against the CSU “is the speech here. Others celebrate the action and criticize the fact that the artists are denounced instead of dealing with the actual topic: German and European refugee policy.
That is also why the collective wants to sternThe spokeswoman said: “We see the danger that Europe will toughen up. What happens in countries like Greece at the European borders has been happening since then Years ago: people continue to die and drown in the Mediterranean, the conditions in the camps are catastrophic, I was there myself. […] Germany has signed the Geneva Refugee Convention and we are breaking with it, as well as with our own asylum law. ”
