The objective is that Argentina’s participation in the international fair, which will take place from October 19 to 23, implies a visibility space for both small and medium-sized publishers as well as established and emerging authors, explained the Department of Cultural Affairs in a statement.
In this way, he added, the focus is on the set of selected books being “representative of the current Argentine publishing industry, with emphasis on its export potential.”
Among the chosen works are recognized authors of children’s literature such as Magela Demarco, Adela Basch and Fabián Sevilla, feminist writers such as Dora Barrancos, Camila Sosa Villada and Sara Ahmed, along with writers with great experience such as César Aira, Pedro Mairal, Fabián Casas and Juan Sasturain (current director of the National Library) and others with early recent works such as Dolores Gil and Maximiliano Pizzicotti.
The curatorship will be present in a digital version catalog on the Foreign Ministry website, which can be accessed through the following link: https://bit.ly/argentinabibliodiversa.
“Argentina Bibliodiversa” was promoted together with the National Directorate of Tourism, Sports, Cultural and Creative Industries and SBC, and the Argentine Investment and International Trade Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship; within the framework of the Argentine Book Plan, a program that encourages the internationalization of the national publishing market based on the promotion of publications and their authors abroad.
This project also seeks export economic development and the professionalization of medium and small publishers, both in relation to the rights market and the physical book.
