Mark Hamill only posts his name on Twitter and the network goes crazy. That’s behind the action.
– and the social platform goes crazy. The simple message of the legendary Luke Skywalker actor has collected almost 500,000 likes so far (as of September 6, 2021, 10.45 a.m.). But what does it mean?
Mark Hamill responded with his tweet to the challenge of a user named Lauren, a young actress from Northern Ireland – and a “Star Wars” fan, according to her Twitter description. Yesterday she wrote to her idol Hamill (there is also a drawing by Luke Skywalker on her account): “You could just tweet ‘Mark Hamill’ and get thousands of likes”.
The star, who most recently lent his voice to Skeletor in the new Netflix series “Masters of the Universe: Revelation”, accepted the challenge. He retweeted Lauren’s message and simply gave it his name. Theory more than proven. Lauren’s tweet also earned five-digit likes.
Stars jump on the Hamill trend
Mark Hamill colleagues jumped on the bandwagon and tried to prove that they too would get thousands of “likes” if they posted “Mark Hamill”. George Takei (84), who played Sulu on “Star Trek”,
Actor Lance Reddick followed suit, but was not quite as successful with his “desperate” tweet (as he called it himself).
Also critical voices on Twitter
But there were also occasional voices on Twitter that criticized the star cult that the action shows. with all due respect for Hamill’s other funny actions on the social platform, that the viral name tweet puts smaller accounts with good content in the shade.
