Pietro Lombardi announced big baby news on Instagram last Saturday. “When love becomes life: Baby Lombardi is loading,” wrote Pietro Lombardi under his post. He and girlfriend Laura Maria Rypa are becoming parents together for the first time. More than half a million fans have already liked the post, and over 15,000 have commented on it.
Among them were many congratulations from fans as well as from celebrities. Dieter Bohlen, for example, wrote: “Congratulations. Wish you all the best! Above all: healthy child”. It was also Bohlen who discovered Lombardi in 2011 on “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”. Pietro Lombardi won that season. He also met his ex-wife Sarah Engels, with whom he was in the final. Later they became parents of their son Alessio.
But Engels has so far lacked congratulations under the post with the baby news. Now the singer commented on Instagram about the reasons: “Personally, I don’t think it’s that important to do things like this publicly or officially, I wished them both all the best in private, which I find much more important.”
Pietro Lombardi: turbulent times
Engels is addressing questions and comments from fans who have wondered why they – at least publicly – would have reacted so cautiously to the news. Engels and Lombardi have been separated since 2016 because of an alleged infidelity from Sarah Engels, and the divorce followed in 2019.
Lombardi and soon-to-be mom Laura Maria Rypa have had an on-off relationship for the past few years. The reunion followed a good two months ago – and now the next milestone. Lombardi also comments on this in his post: “After many turbulent times, the best time in our lives is now following.”
