Overwork and burnout can quickly lead to addiction. Entrepreneur Carsten Maschmeyer experienced it himself – and wants to warn others.
According to his own statement, financial entrepreneur Carsten Maschmeyer (62) has gotten into a vicious circle of overwork, burnout and dependence on sleeping pills in the past.
“The low point of my life was a pill addiction over ten years ago,” wrote the husband of actress Veronica Ferres (56) on Monday on Instagram. The “Bild” newspaper reported on this. He became addicted and took a higher and higher dose. “A side effect of the pills was depression,” Maschmeyer wrote in his post. The businessman was also known as the coach of the Vox television show “The Lions’ Den”.
“During this time, my private life was also in ruins. The only anchor and ray of hope was my Veronica, ”the 62-year-old remembers the phase of illness. The rehab in a psychiatric clinic that his partner had found for him was hell for him. He makes his story public to save others from overwork, burnout and pill addiction. According to Maschmeyer, tips for a mentally healthy life can be found in his new book “The six elements of success – How to change your life”.
Maschmeyer grew up in poor circumstances in Hildesheim and started his career in Hanover. He now lives with Veronica Ferres in Munich.
