Britney Spears opens up about her guardianship again. In an audio clip, she describes this as “pure abuse”.
Britney Spears (40) has unpacked again about her past guardianship. After 13 years, this ended in November 2021. US media quote from an audio clip that first appeared on the singer’s YouTube channel, but was later deleted. For 22 minutes, Spears talks about guardianship and again raises serious allegations against her family.
The guardianship was “willful,” Spears claims, among other things. “I know now that everything was planned and a woman pitched the idea to my father and mother, [und] actually helped him go through with it and let everything happen.” Her father, Jamie Spears, 70, was appointed her guardian by a court in 2008.
In January 2008, the singer barricaded herself in her house with her children. In the same month, Spears was forcibly admitted to a clinic, a little later incapacitated. Britney Spears now explains that “everything was prepared”. The 40-year-old claims she had “no drugs” and “no alcohol” in her blood. “It was pure abuse and I haven’t told even half of it,” she continues. Her father “loved” to “control everything I did”. He said to her: “I’m Britney Spears and I’m in charge.”

She was also told that she was “fat” and needed to go to the gym. “I remember feeling so demoralized and made to feel like nothing.” She “participated” out of “fear and fear”. “I had to play this role like everything was okay all the time, and I had to go along with it because I knew they could hurt me,” Spears continues.
She also dished out to the rest of her family. She was confused by her fans’ #FreeBritney movement. “These people on the street fought for me, but my sister and my mother didn’t do anything. It seemed to me that they secretly liked that I was the bad guy (…).” Her family “literally killed her,” Spears said. “I felt like my family threw me away.”
Since the end of guardianship, Britney Spears has apparently been on the up: On June 9 of this year, the singer celebrated her fairytale wedding with Sam Asghari (28) on the grounds of her villa in Thousand Oaks, California. Also musically she starts again. Last Friday (August 26) she released the duet “Hold Me Closer” with Elton John (75), her first single in six years.
